Disney makes Dreams come true

Thanks to Disney World, you can now fulfill your childhood dream of kissing Prince Charming in front of a real-life castle.

When news broke that happy couples could marry on the East Plaza Garden in the Magic Kingdom, Disney didn’t shy away from offering a full explanation of the pricing.

A park representative shared a few of the details for Cosmopolitan: “To have your ceremony in front of the castle, which allows for just 100 people and a ceremony time of 9:30 a.m. sharp, there is a $25,000 minimum fee. That’s excluding food and beverage and other expenditure minimums, which total the $75,000. This, again, is for the ceremony alone. You can’t have your reception in the same location.”

Indeed, the 2016 price breakdown on disneyweddings.com shows the premium paid for the coveted spot.

Other things to note: You can add all the other fairytale wedding elements, like riding into the ceremony in Cinderella’s horse-drawn glass coach ($2,950 for two hours), fireworks to light up the kingdom, and Disney characters galore, but it’s not cheap either. All pricing is per hour and before tax and gratuity.

Though Disney has done weddings for as low as $2,500 in different park locations, the rep said, those who are prepping to get married in front of the castle tend to have a “sky is the limit” budget. As long as you know what you like, “fairy godmothers will assist you” and make it happen. She recommended calling exactly at 16 months prior to when you want to get married, as that’s the earliest you can reserve the space.
